If you’re tired of eating bread and deep fried foods, this easy frankie recipe will appeal to your healthy quotient. Here’s what you’ll need for it: 1 leftover roti, 1 boiled and mashed potato mixed with salt, chilli powder, garam masala and chopped coriander leaves, tomato ketchup or any spicy sauce, a small chopped onion and lots of grated cheese.

Spread the sauce or ketchup on the roti and sprinkle the chopped onion. Use a generous amount of mashed potato as your filling in the centre. Grate cheese on top of this and place this roti in a non-stick frying pan till it crisps lightly. This will also help the cheese melt. Make into a roll and your home-made frankie is all ready to eat. You can also make your own version of the masala with what’s available in your pantry. Paneer’s always a winner!

Ingredients for frankie:-

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • One cup paneer cubes
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • ½ sliced capsicum
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon chaat masala
  • 4 wraps
  • 2 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • Two teaspoons chilli sauce
  • 2 teaspoons grated carrot
  • 4 tablespoons grated cheddar cheese
  • salt to taste.

process for making Frankie:-

1 -Start by preparing the stuffing. Place a wok on the stove, add butter and heat it.

2 -Add paneer cubes and roast until it turns golden brown. Keep aside.

3 -Add more butter, onion, and ginger-garlic paste.

4 -Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and garam masala.

5 -Sauté on low flame until spices turn aromatic and then add tomato puree.

6 -Add salt, roasted paneer, capsicum and mix well.

7 -Let it cook for 5 minutes and add coriander. Keep the mixture aside.

8 -Now work on your sauce. In a bowl add chilli powder, turmeric, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, chaat masala, and salt. Mix well.

9 -Then take your first wrap, spread mayonnaise, and chilli sauce.

10 -Add prepared paneer stuffing, sauce, and cheddar cheese uniformly.

11 -Now roll tight without allowing the stuffing to come out, cut into halves and serve paneer frankie.
